Course description

The Edexcel Level 3 BTEC Subsidiary Diploma in Sport is a 60-credit and 360 guided learning hour (GLH) qualification that consists of three mandatory units plus one mandatory specialist unit plus three optional units that provide for a combined total of 60 credits (where at least 45 credits must be at Level 3 or above). Mandatory units — all three units must be taken 1 Principles of Anatomy and Physiology in Sport 2 The Physiology of Fitness 3 Assessing Risk in Sport Mandatory specialist units — one unit must be taken from: Fitness Testing for Sport and Exercise Principles and Practices in Outdoor Adventure Optional units — three units must be taken from: Fitness Training and Programming Sports Coaching Sports Development Fitness Testing for Sport and Exercise Practical Team Sports Practical Individual Sports Outdoor and Adventurous Activities Sports Nutrition Current Issues in Sport Leadership in Sport Exercise, Health and Lifestyle Instructing Physical Activity and Exercise Psychology for Sports Performance Physical Education and the Care of Children and Young People Work Experience in Sport The Athlete’s Lifestyle Principles and Practices in Outdoor Adventure Skills for Water-based Outdoor and Adventurous Activities Sports Facilities and Operational Management Choice of optional units will be negotiated with the students.
