Hairdressing & Beauty Therapy City and Guilds Diploma Level 2 at Fareham College

Course description

This programme is designed in modules, offering the flexibility and range to progress in both beauty therapy and hairdressing. We offer additional qualifications depending on your progress.

You need to be self-motivated and willing to devote time to extensive home study.

This course offers the best of two careers increasing your employment prospects.

Course content

Beauty therapy content includes:

  • Health and safety

  • Client care and Salon Reception

  • Facial treatments

  • Eyelash and eyebrow treatments

  • Waxing treatments

  • Manicure and pedicure

  • Skin tanning treatments

Hairdressing content includes:

  • Shampooing and conditioning

  • Hair cutting and styling

  • Health and safety

  • The art of colouring hair

  • Creating an image using colour for professional hair and beauty

  • Perming

Entry requirements

Five GCSEs at grade A* – D


Financial information

One or two (depending on course) salon uniforms, kits & textbooks are essential requirements of our courses. A list is available on request and students may purchase these through the College.

You may incur additional costs while on work placements.

Future opportunities

You may progress onto a Level 3 in Beauty Therapy or Level 3 Accelerated Hairdressing at Fareham College upon successful completion of this course.

Continuous further training is a recommended feature of these professions to provide the maximum employment potential possible.

This course will prepare you for employment as a hairdresser or beauty therapist.

The qualification awarded will be the City and Guilds Certificate in Creative Hair and Beauty Studies
