Sociology at Taverham High School

Course description

Introduction and Structure:

GCE Sociology is the study of society, people and their behaviour. Sociologists create theories to explain behaviour and the workings of society. “The sociologist is the person who is intensively, endlessly, shamelessly interested in the doings of men” (Berger). Sociologists have differing theories and engage in debate that can be controversial. Understanding these viewpoints and reaching judgements is part of the study. In other words, Sociology is not just an “ology”, it is relevant, academic, contemporary and interesting
