Complementary Therapies Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma at Northampton College
You will cover a range of holistic therapy treatments. The method of learning is by a mixture of practical and theory sessions. Your course may include one late evening per week.The modules that you will study include: - Aromatherapy - Body Massage - Reflexology - Anatomy, Physiology and pathology - Business practices - Health and Safety - Principles and practices for complementary therapistsYou will be expected to complete 200 case studies, some of these will be undertaken at home and some in college.
Those seeking to gain employment as a complementary therapist.
Students aged 16-18: 4 GCSEs at Grade C or above or a relevant level 2 beauty qualification.Students aged 19 and over: No formal entry requirements however candidates should have good communication skills and some IT skills
All practical treatments are assessed whilst working on members of the public and through synoptic graded assessment, including detailed case studies. Theory work is assessed using written external tests and set projects to work on at home and you will be required to prepare a portfolio of evidence. You will be expected to adhere to a professional dress code.
After successful completion of this course you can progress to:- Additional part-time Holistic units- Set up your own business/self-employment- Work in an Alternative Therapy Centre, Health Centre or large Hotel- VRQ Level 2 in Beauty Therapy
Students aged 19 and over will be required to pay exam and registration fees of approximately £110 at enrolment.You will be required to purchase the following prior to enrolment (costs are approximate):- Uniform - £50- Textbooks - £75- Aromatherapy Oil Kit - £40Ask your interviewer for more details.
