Health and Social Care Level 3 BTEC 90 Credit Diploma at Mid Cheshire College

Course description

This is a vocational course delivered by professionally qualified lecturers. The course requires a minimum of 300 hours within placements in a variety of health and social care settings. This valuable opportunity enhances communication skills, supports the underpinning knowledge; allowing students to put theory into practice. This experience enables students to make an informed choice towards choosing the right higher education course / career.

Course content

This course includes a Study Programme to provide learners with a coherent and enriching curriculum which will provide them with the academic, social and employability skills to progress to further or higher education or employment.

The content of the study programme is designed to broaden the learner experience beyond the main qualification of study.

The key theme of Study Programmes at Level 3 will be the development of personal, social and enterprise skills to enable progression to higher levels of study or employment.

As well as your core qualification you will study GCSE or Functional Skills in English or Maths plus English and maths development as part of the core qualification.

Learners will also undertake personal progress planning and pastoral education. Plus additional personal development activity which may include work experience and projects.


You will learn through projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. All units are assessed and graded and an overall grade awarded.

Future opportunities

You will be able to progress on to a relevant health or care related degree. Alternatively, you may wish to consider employment as a support worker in the caring field or a career in the NHS or Social Services.
