Information and Communication Technology - Functional Skills at Grange Technology College

Course description

Students study the Functional Skills course to improve their ICT skills. These skills help you with your sixth form programme of study and make you more desirable to employers, colleges and universities. You are expected to achieve at least Level 2 (GCSE grade A-C) before you leave the sixth form.

Course content

In addition to learning new ICT skills you will apply them to a variety of situations to meet individual needs. You will learn to access and search for ICT based information and use it appropriately.

Entry requirements



Functional Skills in ICT is assessed by a single computer-based test plus a witness statement from your teacher describing your approach to using technology

Future opportunities

Progression Routes

  • Level 1 : equivalent to GCSE grade D - G
  • Level 2 : equivalent to GCSE grade A* - C

Completion at one level enables you to progress to the next.
