Music BTEC level 3 National Extended Diploma at Falmouth School
This year there is the opportunity to study a brand new Music course and Falmouth College is very excited to have gained accreditation to deliver this course. The National Extended Certificate in Music is equivalent to 1 A Level and carries the same UCAS points for progression to Higher Education if required. Your new BTEC National Extended Certificate in Music offer a qualification that can be studied alongside other level 3 qualifications such as A levels or other BTEC Nationals as part of a larger programme of study, or as the main focus of study.
The BTEC Qualifications provide: • Opportunities for students to showcase their skills through practical assessments • The underpinning knowledge and skills needed to meet industry requirements • The transferable and high-order skills so highly regarded by Higher Education and Employers The BTEC National Extended Certificate in Music consists of 6 units, including a number of mandatory and optional ones. The units you study could include at least 3 of the following: 1. Ensemble Music Performance Techniques 2. Practical Music Theory and Harmony 3. Professional Practice in the Music Industry 4. Music Skills Development 5. Music in Context 6. Creating a Music Product.
This Music qualification can provide a stepping stone into university with the UCAS points added to those achieved in the other A Levels/BTEC study in your programme. If you would like to follow one of the vocational music degrees this course is considered highly by specialist universities. Following this course you may also choose to pursue a career in Music technology, music journalism, peripatetic teaching, events management or use as part of training into secondary specialist teaching or as a primary teacher. Of course this course will also support the pursuit of a career in performance following further training.
