The AS course consists of two units. Students will sit an examination for each unit at the end of the course. Unit 1- PSYA1 Cognitive Psychology –
Models of memory & memory in everyday life Developmental Psychology –
Early social development, attachment & disruption of attachment Research Methods –
Knowledge and understanding of a variety of research methods Unit 2- PSYA2 Biological Psychology –
Stress as bodily response, factors associated with stress and coping with stress Social Psychology –
Reasons why people conform/obey or resist the pressures to conform/obey, majority & minority social influence Individual Differences –
Defining abnormality & limitations of these definitions, approaches to psychopathology and biological & psychological therapies involved with abnormality
