Entry to Brickwork & Wet Trades Award at Stephenson College

Course description

This course is designed for learners who want to move into construction, but need another year to improve on their basic skills such as Maths and English. It also helps to improve practical, personal and communication skills, as well as giving a good stepping stone onto a construction diploma at level one, with a good understanding of the subject. The majority of learners progress onto level one and beyond.

Course content

Unit 1- Contributing to Health and Safety in the Work Place. Unit 2 - Handling and Storing Materials and Components. Unit 3 - Personal Work Skills. Unit 4 - Carrying out Operations.

Assessment

Assessment will be ongoing by your assessor both in practical and theory. Support will be given throughout in any weak areas.

On completion of the Entry to Construction course you can progress onto a construction diploma Level One course.

How will I learn?

You will learn following a scheme of work and learning plans. In the practical workshop you will be given ongoing practical demonstrations by your trainer before your practical assignments throughout the year. The year will end with a practical end test which will be assessed by your trainer. Knowledge of the industry will be gained through theory sessions in the classroom and on PC's. Basic Maths and English training will be included within theory sessions.
