Maintenence Operations Level 2 at Wales High School and Business and Enterprise College with Applied Learning
This is a full-time one year qualification, which could be spread over two years allowing students to take other subjects. The City & Guilds Level 2 Maintenance Operations course allows candidates to learn, develop and practise the skills required for employment and/or career progression in Maintenance Operations for standalone trades doing repairs.
Students undertaking this course are expected to sit a differing range of assessments set by the City and Guilds awarding body. These include one exam covering the construction industry, seven practical assessments and seven end of unit exams. The end of unit exams will be online and multi-choice.
The Examination Board for this course is City & Guilds.
Where can this lead?
It could lead to an apprenticeship in various construction trades such as bricklaying, joinery and plastering.
It covers small-scale repairs in various trades in the construction sector for the following:
- Building repairs (brickwork)
- Painting and decorating
- Plastering repairs
- Plumbing repairs
- Carpentry repairs
Lessons will be taught by ‘industry standard’ qualified tutors and this helps students to focus on the strong emphasis of health and safety. Students will be given the opportunity to participate in visits to local builders’ merchants, local construction sites, complete project work within the local community and will experience in-house demonstrations from professionals. This course will also help you to develop your health and safety awareness skills, which will enable you to further develop your employability skills.
Students must be working towards grade 4 or above in English and Mathematics. Students may also have a Level 1 qualification in Construction. Students must have a genuine interest in working in the construction industry.
This course is for candidates that work or wish to work in a variety of roles that require knowledge of the various construction trades.
