Engineering and Manufacture EAL Level 1 Diploma at Carlisle College
The content and structure of this qualification has been developed to provide a broad based introduction to the practices and processes of engineering and technology and employability skills. It will develop the personal skills and attributes that learner's need in their ability to work, learn and achieve their full potential at level one and provide progression to higher levels.
Along side this course you will be expected to develop your numeracy and literacy skills by following a Numeracy and/or Literacy qualification in Functional Skills; Students with a D grade in English or Math's will be required to attend lessons and work towards achieving a C grade or above.
These are the basics upon which any career in Engineering will be built:-
- Introduction to Working in Engineering
These units introduce specific skills which are needed in different areas of engineering and include:-
- Preparing for an interview
- Managing study and approaches to learning
- Introduction to machining Engineering materials
- Introduction to cutting/forming/assembling engineering materials
- Introduction to basic maths and science
- Introduction to CAD
- Intro to engineering project planning.
4 GCSEs at grades D-F or equivalent. You will also be required to undertake a satisfactory interview with a member of the teaching team.
This qualification is assessed by the internal (centre marked) assessments, which test the practical skills and knowledge of the learners within the units. The learner must pass all the internal assessments of their chosen units to achieve the qualification. EAL will externally verify the assessment. It is advised that the learners produce a logbook/portfolio where they can file and make reference to evidence that shows their achievements against the learning outcomes.
Successful completion of this course can lead you to other higher level courses, such as Level 3 in Engineering, employment or an Apprenticeship in various Engineering areas.
