Games Development BTEC Extended Diploma Level 3 at Preston's College
The games industry is growing at a rapid pace with many experts predicting it will overtake the movie industry as the leader in the entertainment sector. As a result of this, new roles are becoming available that did not exist ten years ago and this course provides you with a chance to get in on the action.
The course is focused on the creative side of games development as well as the technical aspects and takes you from planning and conceptual art and ideas generation right through to storyline development, 3D modelling and games engines. There is also some digital graphic work.
You need five GCSE’s (or equivalent) at A*-C grade. A GCSE at grade C in either English or maths with a minimum grade D for the other subject. Alternatively we’ll accept a relevant Level 2 qualification at merit grade or above.
Assessment is continuous and based on outcomes of projects and assignments, together with integrated vocational assignments.
Success on this course could lead to entrance to unviersity courses in games development but the course also provides the baseline skills for starting a career in this exciting industry.
