Design Technology - Textiles at Ribston Hall High School

Course description

The Design and Technology department are excited to introduce this new

course for the academic year 2014/2015.

A-level Textile Design provides students with opportunities to develop

personal responses to ideas, observations, experiences, environments and

cultures in practical, critical and contextual forms. Students have more

freedom to be expressive and creative using a range of media. They will

be able to demonstrate independence of mind in developing their own

ideas. Students who take this course must have a genuine interest and

enthusiasm for Fashion and Textiles. They must also be committed, as a

large amount of independent study is required.

Ribston Hall has a wide range of both traditional and new technologies that will enable textile students to produce

inspirational and creative design work.

Students will develop numerous transferable skills throughout their A-Level including analysis, creativity, problem solving,

evaluation and time management. Studying A-Level Textile Design can lead to a range of possible careers paths; including

Fashion Design, Textiles Design Fashion and Textile Management, Fashion Marketing, Buying etc.

Entry requirements

Grade B or above in:

Design & Technology: Textiles or and Art related subject
