Emergency Paediatric First Aid FAA Award Level 3 (1 Day) at Cornwall College

Course description

This course has been developed for those who are working with children and infants. It will be of particular interest to

teachers, child minders, creche assistants, playgroup personnel and anyone else who has a responsibility for their welfare

whilst in your care.

This qualification is a 1 day course and serves as an introduction into Paediatric First Aid.

Course content

A range of subjects are covered

  • Responsibilities and reporting
  • Assessment of the emergency situation
  • Dealing with an unresponsive casualty
  • Recusitation
  • Choking
  • Control of bleeding and shock
  • Recovery position
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Epilepsy
  • Fainting
  • Infection control
  • Minor injuries
  • First Aid equipment

DURATION

A minimum of 6 hours makes up this unit consisting of theoretical and practical work.

Entry requirements

A learner must be a minimum of 16 years of age to qualify.

Future opportunities

CERTIFICATION

Assessment is ongoing by the instructor in respect of the learner's practical skills and there will be a multiple choice question paper to answer in respect of the learners  knowledge.

A three year certificate will be issued, subject to assessment.

 

Learners can enrole in Paediartic First Aid FAA Award Level 3 (2 day) but will only need to attend the second day to cover unit 2
