Mechanical Engineering Technology Level 2 Certificate at Havering College of Further and Higher Education

Course description

If you enjoy the challenge that engineering brings, you will benefit from this course which covers the intermediate knowledge and understanding of the principles, methods and technology involved in Mechanical Engineering.

Course content

The qualification covers the following mandatory units:

  • Engineering environment awareness;
  • Engineering techniques;
  • Engineering principles.

There is one optional unit:

  • Turning techniques.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification, although you should show the potential, at interview, to successfully achieve all units to gain the qualification.


The assessment of this qualification has two aspects - the 3 mandatory units are externally assessed by exam and the optional unit is internally assessed (centre marked).

All 3 mandatory units plus the 1 optional must be successfully completed to gain the certificate.

Future opportunities

Success can lead to progression onto Level 3 Certificate/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
