BTEC Health & Safety (Diploma) Level 3 at Chichester High Schools Sixth Form

Course description

The single award is the Edexcel BTEC Level 3 subsidiary Diploma and is broadly equivalent to one GCE A Level. The double award is the Edexcel BTEC Level 3 Diploma and is broadly equivalent to two A Levels. Both courses provide much of the underpinning knowledge for the National Occupational Standards in Health and Social Care/Health and consequently act as a robust introduction to both sectors. They prepare learners for employment in the sectors or for Higher Education.

The BTEC students have the opportunity to achieve a Pass, Merit or Distinction for each unit covered. Students will be asked to complete short projects and assignments individually and working with others.

Course content

Students will study 6 units across the two years:

Unit 1: Developing effective communication

Unit 2: Equality, diversity and rights

Unit 3: Health, safety and security

Unit 4: Developing through the life stages

Unit 5: Anatomy and physiology

Unit 6: Caring for children & young people

Students completing the full diploma will be required to complete a further 6 units.

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at grade C or above.
