Electrical Installation (Level 2) Diploma at Tresham College of Further and Higher Education

Course description

This course covers all of the essential theory and practical training required to undertake a broad range of electrical installation inspection and testing.

Course content

You will develop practical electrical installation skills including: • wiring and testing electrical equipment and circuits • forming and assembling electrical cable enclosures • maintaining electrical equipment and systems. This qualification is recognised throughout the industry as the recommended level 2 vocational qualification for students who wish to undertake an electrical installation apprenticeship.

Entry requirements

A range of GCSEs at C or above including maths, English and preferably science or equivalent OR a relevant level 1 qualification with equivalent English, maths and preferably science.


Coursework is assessed through a combination of practical workshop assessments, written assignments and end of unit exams.

Financial information

Personal protective equipment for the course (PPE) approx. £30 and textbooks approx. £20. You are also required to purchase a basic tool kit costing approx. £50.

Future opportunities

Advanced Diploma in Electrical Installation (Level 3) or onto an Apprenticeship as an Electrician.

      Wellingborough campus also has a dedicated Motor Vehicle Centre and workshops for Plumbing, Heating and Ventilation and Electrical Installation.

      Skills for Life Workshops are available to improve basic Maths and English skills as English classes for Speakers of Other Languages.
