Food and Beverage Services NVQ Level 2 at Buxton & Leek College

Course description

You'll develop advanced service techniques and supervisory skills within a restaurant environment.

You'll learn from highly experienced restaurant managers, who have a range of specialist skills, while gaining a nationally recognised qualification.

Tell me about the course in general

You'll come into college three or four days each week, plus one evening.

In college you'll take part in advanced practical skills sessions, portfolio building and theory and Functional Skills sessions.

You'll work alongside and supervise others as part of a team, using high quality fresh ingredients in our fine dining restaurant.

Entry requirements

You will need relevant Level 2 qualifications (Merit or above) or appropriate experience.

You'll be invited to an informal interview with a member of the team to chat through the options available to you.

Assessment

Your progress and achievements throughout the course will be assessed in different ways, including observation of skills, practical and written assignments and projects.

Future opportunities

You'll be able to apply for positions in many businesses, from small independent operators to national and international companies. Or you could move on to more advanced studies, including FdA Professional Culinary Arts here at the University of Derby Buxton.
