Economics at King Alfred's Academy
Economics sees students investigate both Micro and Macro economics. Microeconomics investigates issues such as ‘why are house prices so high?’ and ‘should governments interfere with markets?’ The macroeconomics issues covered include ‘Government inflation management’, ‘What happens to the economy if we decide to spend more?’ and ‘How are we affected by the European economies?’
At A2 level students will develop this learning in two broad contexts; the Global context and the European context.
AS level qualifications. However, students following courses in Sociology, ICT, Maths, Government and Politics and Geography find a particular connection between these subjects and Economics.
Typically students need at the very least 5 or more GCSE’s at grade C or above to be successful on an Advanced Course. There are more than 30 subjects to choose from though some may require more than a C grade.
