Media Studies AS/A2 at East Berkshire College
If you are interested in the impact of media on society or want to explore modern media techniques then this course will be invaluable.
The course covers all aspects of media from an investigation and analysis of media products such as television programs, advertisements and newspapers to an understanding of how media institutions work.
It also investigates debates about the effects of media on society.
Practical coursework assignments allow you to demonstrate an understanding of the media by producing media products for specific audiences.
You will need five GCSEs at Grade C or above (including English Language) or an equivalent vocational qualification.
Assessment is through coursework and formal examinations held in June.
Following successful completion of the AS, students may take the 2nd year and complete A level media studies after which students often opt for higher education in related media degrees or HNDs. Students may consider a career in the media industry at this point.
