This unit introduces you to the basic techniques of acting. The skills developed in this unit are vital in the development of confidence and understanding the role of the actor.

Any student who is interested in acting, drama, performance and production will really enjoy studying this option and will also get the opportunity to: work alongside professional theatre companies, participate in practical workshops, visit local theatres and experience a variety of live productions both in and out of school.

The BTEC Level 2 First Award in Performing Arts (Acting) combines a theory and practical based course that is designed to allow students to gain an insight into the performing arts sector, with a key focus on studying and experiencing the prime skills, techniques and creative aspects of the art of the actor.

The BTEC Level 2 First Award in Performing Arts (Acting) offers you the opportunity to combine theory and practice and use it in a real way, actually covering areas of Drama that you could use when you enter into the world of employment.

Learning will take place both in and out of the Drama Studio. There is a strong emphasis on developing practical skills, visiting local & national theatre companies and many opportunities to see drama in action.
