*Drama GCSE (One Year) (Year 11) at The Westwood Academy (West Coventry Sixth Form)
Pupils choosing to study Drama at GCSE will be asked to respond to a variety of different play texts and to gain an appreciation of the effect of social, historical and cultural differences on the theatre of the day. They will also increase their group work and self awareness and learn to evaluate the work of others as well as developing their creative skills.
Pupils will also develop practical skills in stage make-up, set design and sound creation.
Pupils should look at the display board in the English area which gives examples of tasks set for GCSE Drama before choosing to study this subject.
Coursework, worth 60% of overall mark:
- Response to plays and other types of drama.
- Work in progress
- Final presentation - either performance or demonstration of stagecraft
Examination, worth 40% of overall mark:
Two questions, two hours long. The first question is based on a response to the six set plays. The second question is a response to live productions seen during the course.
