Sport (Development, Coaching and Fitness) BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma at Farnham College

Course description

To study the Extended Diploma, you must have successfully completed the 90 Credit Diploma.

This course provides a clear introduction to the sports industry and allows you to specialise and help build a career in sport. 

You will be given the opportunity to explore and investigate the wider issues surrounding the sports industry through direct experiences, such as running a sports club, sport specialised work experience, coaching awards and expert teaching.

Also, you can gain additional qualifications which may include First Aid and coaching specific workshops.

Course content

  • Students study a wide breadth of units enabling a wide spectrum of future opportunities to be available.
  • The opportunity is given to gain additional vocational qualifications that could be utilised in a future workplace
  • Level 2 First Aid Certificate.
  • Leadership experience

Entry requirements

To study the Extended Diploma, you must have successfully completed the 90 Credit Diploma.

 

Assessment

The course is portfolio based with no exams and all assignments are geared towards developing skills in the sports coaching and fitness industry.

You will be assessed in practical and written forms including coaching sessions, presentations, leaflets, reports and discussions, all for a more realistic feel to the industry.

Financial information

ou will need to purchase a college poloshirt/hoodie for practicals (£25), attend an external First Aid Course (£25 but subject to change) for certification and undertake other trips (approximate total cost £25).

 

Future opportunities

On successful completion of the full Extended Diploma you could study a Degree or pursue a careers in sports, teaching, sports psychology or sports marketing.

 

Further information

All 16-19 year olds on full-time programmes will be required to retake GCSE English and Maths or to undertake Functional Skills, if they have not already attained the equivalent of a GCSE grade C in these subjects, every year of their course, until they complete their studies.
