Health & Social Care AS Level (AQA) Single Award at Lightcliffe Academy
The specification encourages students to: Develop and sustain an interest in health, early years care and education, social care and issues affecting the care sector; Acquire knowledge and understanding of health, early years care and education issues affecting the health and social care sector; Develop skills that will enable them to make an effective contribution to the care sector including skills of research, evaluation and problem-solving in a work-related context; Apply knowledge, understanding and skills; Prepare for further study and training. The qualification comprises six AS and three A2 units to include the mandatory units for the AS double award and for the A Level single award.
You could take this course to complement other advanced level courses or to prepare the A2 part of an Advanced GCE in Health and Social Care, which could lead onto higher education, BTEC Higher Nationals or NVQ Levels 3 and 4 in areas of childcare, healthcare, Nutrition, or more general courses. With further training, you could go into a job related to Health and Social Care such as a Nurse, Midwife, Dietician, Teacher or areas of Social Work. You could also go straight into a job as the AS GCE is a recognised qualification that will help you develop the skills, understanding and knowledge that many employers across lots of industries are looking for, especially in the social sectors.
