BTEC National Award/Diploma in Health Studies - Level 3 at The Parker E-act Academy

Course description

The Health Studies course is taken by those who wish to progress into health professions such as nursing, midwifery, social work, podiatry or paramedic science. This course enables entry into Higher Education. You will initially be enrolled for the six unit Award. This must be completed successfully before progression on to the National Diploma in Year Two.

Course content

The course provides an insight into aspects of health, science, psychology, and lifespan development. Practical skills are gained through work experience of one day a week in placement (placements are in a variety of settings including working with children, the elderly and those with special needs). Skills Qualifications will also be studied.

Entry requirements

You should have achieved four GCSEs at Grade C, (including English Language, Maths and a Science GCSE at Grade C) or an equivalent qualification e.g. BTEC First Diploma at merit level or above.

*For those students who perform particularly well in their assignments and practical placements, there is the possibility to apply for a fast track route to Nursing - by applying for Accreditation of Prior Learning (APEL) which can reduce by six months the time required to gain a Nursing Diploma.
