NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Event Planning at Solihull College & University Centre

Course description

Learners will find out about planning events for different sectors and look at the duties of the Event Planner/Coordinator.

Course content

Learners will produce event and contingency plans and learn about security and health and safety requirements at planned events. They will learn how to evaluate events, explore evaluation tools and will produce evaluation plans. Learners will explore initial market research, investigate marketing methods and resources, and produce marketing plans for events as well as considering management requirements and necessary personnel for events. The importance of communication, equality of opportunity and customer service in event planning are major themes that are covered during the course.

Entry requirements

- A satisfactory reference
- Two GCSE passes at grade E/2 or above, one of which must be English.


This qualification consists of 5 mandatory units:
- Market research and marketing methods in event planning
- Human resource planning at events
- Communication and customer service at events
- Event review and evaluation
- Planning an event
Assessment is through practical observations, multiple choice exams, assignments and portfolio building.

Future opportunities

After successfully completing this qualification, you may like to go on to further study in the same or a similar subject. This might include:

- Level 3 Principles of Event Management
- Level 3 Organising Conferences, Leisure or Hospitality Events
- Level 3 NVQ in Events
- Level 3 NVQ in Customer Service

Further information

A minimum of 88% attendance is needed to complete the course however 100% is expected.
Trips e.g. Good food show (optional)
Talks and demonstrations by external employers will take place throughout the year.
Compulsory work experience attendance.
Good levels of English and Maths are important for your success in your course, your chosen vocation and life.

Throughout your course you will continue to develop your English and Maths skills in your vocational classes.

If you haven't achieved an A*/ - C/4 grade in English or Maths at GCSE, or a Level 2 Functional Skill, you will also be working towards a qualification in English or Maths at a level that will enable you to progress towards these grades.
You will be required to pay for the following:
- A4 Folder is required
- Underpinning workbooks are provided
- Trips (optional)
- Uniform
