Higher Diploma - Information Technology at Appleby Heritage Centre

Course description

The IT Diploma provides the opportunity to acquire knowledge and develop skills in the broad context of the information technology and communications sector. It also reflects the blend of business, technical and interpersonal skills needed in modern IT and Telecoms professional roles. The Diploma will enable learners to progress into further and higher education and future employment.

 

Learners following an IT programme will also:

  • develop Functional Skills in English, Mathematics and ICT
  • produce a project which complements the Principal Learning and/or support their progression
  • have a particularly wide choice of Additional or Specialist Learning from which they can choose other qualifications which reflect their interests and abilities

 

The Diplomas are an exciting qualification based on a hands-on style of learning. You will enjoy learning in different environments including the workplace, choosing to study subjects which interest you and tackling challenging projects.

 

Course content

You will explore the potential of IT technology, create technology solutions, develop multimedia and digital projects, manage technology systems, whilst looking at how IT is used in the music industry, farming, public services, as well as by local employers.

Entry requirements

Evidence candidates are able to work successfully at Level 2 will be gathered from the application form and at interview.

Assessment

All Diplomas will be assessed through both exams and work marked by a teacher. Different parts of each Diploma will be assessed in different ways (for example, your project will usually be assessed by a teacher).
