Media Studies at Bodmin College

Course description

AS/A2 Media studies offer both a theoretical and practical approach to media studies and new media. Through both the practical and theoretical units candidates explore textual analysis, media industries, media institutions and critical perspectives. You will learn how to create media products using state-of-the-art Apple Mac editing programs such as Photoshop, InDesign, Final Cut Pro, After Effects, iWeb, Illustrator and Audition.

You will also develop skills in studio & location photography, filmmaking, sound recording and web design. In addition, you will learn how to create pitches, advertising material, scripts, news stories, storyboards, flat plans, SFX makeup, animations, costume & set design and conduct interviews.

Entry requirements

GCSE Grade C in English or Media Studies are needed because Media Studies at Advanced Level involves essay writing and discussion.
