Health and Social Care Level 3 Foundation Diploma at Lincoln College

Course description

This programme provides a general introduction to the health and social care services. You will study a combination of core and optional units, in addition to a high number of hours in work placement settings in the form of 3 block placements over 2 years. You will also be expected to organise their workload and develop both research and study skills over the duration of the programme.
Successful completion of this programme could allow you to progress onto the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care, or into employment within the sector.
During the course of this programme, you will study: Human Life Span; Working in Health and Social Care; Meeting Individual Care and Support Needs and Principles of Safe Practice.


Entry requirements

You will need 5 GCSEs to include English Language (minimum grade C). If you are progressing from Level 2 Health and Social Care, you will require to have achieved at-least a Merit grade and have achieved your English GCSE (minimum grade C).
You are also required to have two good references (one must be from an employer or a recent school/college report) and be successful at interview.
It is essential for all candidates to have an enhanced DBS check before they can go into any Health and Social Care setting. Candidates must be aware that if they have received a caution, reprimand or conviction it may prohibit them from enrolling on a Health and Social Care programme and gaining employment in a care or childcare setting.


Assessment is a combination of continuous assessment throughout the year, the production of a Portfolio of Evidence and two externally assessed exams.
