Foundation Study Programme (Games Design) at Northampton College

Course description

This is an exciting new programme offered in partnership with local employers with real work opportunities. Students will be covering different units relating to games design. One of the units will cover drawn digital designs (vector graphics). Another will look at raster (bitmap) images such as those from a digital camera. Students will use computer software to acquire, create and modify graphic images.Everyone does Mathematics and English at a level that is right for them - from Entry Level 2 Functional Skills up to GCSE. You will also study employability topics to help prepare you for the workplace.

Course content

Students who have no GCSE results, or do not have 4 E Grades, or who have not attended some of their school education and need to achieve an Entry Level or Level 1 qualification in order to progress onto their chosen vocational area or into employment or apprenticeships.When can you start? Entry requirements

To start a Vocational Studies Programme you do not need any qualifications. Just the attitude to attend and take part!


There are varying methods of assessment within the programme, e.g. observations, role play, professional discussions, written tasks and presentations, workbooks, written assessments and computer based activities.

Further information

If you are aged 19 or over on 1st September the examination fee payable at enrolment will be approxiamately £40.
