Design & Technology: Food - A Level at Kesteven Grantham's Girl School
The specification has been designed to encourage candidates to take a broad view of design and technology, and food science and nutrition to develop their capacity to design and make products and to appreciate the complex relationships between design, materials, manufacturing and marketing.The specification provides candidates with the opportunity to design and make a product in both years of the course.
It is helpful but not necessary for candidates to have studied GCSE Design and Technology before commencing work on this specification but no prior knowledge of design and technology is required for candidates to undertake this course of study. The GCSE Food and Nutrition course will provide a sound foundation for this course of study.
Minimum entry to sixth form is 5 GCSEs at grades A8 to C including English and Maths. In addition Grade B in a GCSE Design and Technology subject area.
