IBCC (The Career-related Certificate) at Broadgreen International School

Course description

The new IBCC provides an exciting opportunity for “career oriented” students to gain a certificate which combines practical and academic skills – preparing you for success in the workplace or in further or higher education. It is a two year course of study with close links with the IB Diploma Programme which has gained worldwide recognition and respect.

The IBCC is designed to engage students in a challenging and rigorous programme of international education and to promote career-related learning as being on an equal status with academic studies.

Course content

Students would, following advice and guidance from the sixth form team, construct a course from options detailed below. Study would be for two years completing the options and compulsory elements. Successful completion would lead to the award of the IBCC.

Students would select from:

A: Vocational qualification

  • A selection of courses that are on offer in the sixth form

B: Subject studies from

  • Any two IB Diploma subjects from groups 1, 3 and 6
  • An introductory language course

C: The Core

  1. The reflective project
  2. Community and service
  3. Approaches to learning
