Electrical Installation - EAL Level 3 Diploma at East Durham College

Course description

This course is delivered through classroom theory and workshop practical sessions with on line multiple choice exams.

Course content


The mandatory units cover:

• Electrical installation design

• Environmental technology systems

• Electrical science and principles

• Electrical installation craft

• Inspection, testing, commissioning

• Diagnosing and correcting electrical faults
The optional units cover:

• Overseeing and organising the work environment

• Requirements of bs7671: 2008 (2011)

The qualification has been adapted from the QCF Diploma within the apprenticeship framework, therefore successful completion of the qualification facilitates progression to the industry recognised qualification.


Entry requirements

Candidate will have successfully completed level 2 diploma course in electrical installation.


This course is delivered through classroom theory and workshop practical sessions with on line multiple choice exams.

Financial information

If you have been a UK resident for the past 3 years and are under the age of 19 on the 31st August, you will not usually need to pay any course fees.

Future opportunities

This qualification is designed to allow progress into employment.

    • 2010 saw the opening of The Technical Academy on Peterlee's South West Industrial. The Academy was established by East Durham College with the aim of re-creating a professional, construction and engineering-based working environment where learners could receive the latest training in trade areas that the industry needs. The Academy is located in about 37,000 sq ft. of space with a vast workshop area, classroom and IT suite and specialise in trades such as welding, engineering, wall & floor tiling, electric and gas installation.
