Art and Design - BTEC First Diploma at University Academy Keighley
Edexcel Level 2 BTEC First Certificate in Art and Design with a Fashion unit is equivalent to two GCSEs. The work covers fabric enhancement through colouration techniques and embellishment of textiles and showing a contextual understanding of other artists’ work. Sewing skills are developed as the students work to a fashion design brief.
BTEC Firsts in Art and Design have been developed in the art and design sector to focus on:
- education and training for those who work or are intending to work in the art and design industry
- providing opportunities for those who work or are intending to work in the art and design sector to achieve a nationally recognised Level 2 vocationally specific qualification
- providing opportunities for learners to gain a nationally recognised vocationally specific qualification to enter employment in the art and design sector or to progress to highereducation vocational qualifications such as the Edexcel Level 3 BTEC National in Art and Design
- providing opportunities for learners to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal qualities and attitudes essential for successful performance in working life.
