Construction BTEC Level 1 Diploma at Burnley College

Course description

This course offers opportunities for students to progress into employment in the construction Industry. The course will include practical units including: Basic Carpentry and Joinery, Painting and Decorating, Basic Electrical Installation and Plumbing.

As part of the study programme, students will study theory units which will include: Working Safely in Construction, Construction Drawing, Starting Work in Construction and Employability Skills. This will provide an ideal opportunity for students to progress into a vocational trade area, to further their studies and find full-time employment in the Construction Industry.

Our Construction courses are taught in our outstanding new two bespoke Construction buildings and Centre for Engineering Excellence built in 2015, providing the most up-to-date environment possible to develop your skills in a number of trades.

Entry requirements

Two GCSEs at grade D or above including English Language OR a relevant Foundation Learning Qualification including GCSE grade D in English Language.

Assessment

Assessment is formative and will be completed throughout the course. There is no end exam.

Future opportunities

Students may progress to the BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Construction. Alternatively, successful completion of the course could lead to full-time employment, Apprenticeships or other full-time vocational courses at Burnley College.
