BTEC Level 3 Diploma and Subsidiary Diploma in Applied Science at The John Henry Newman RC School

Course description

• The Core units are: Fundamentals of Science; Working in
the Science Industry; Scientific Investigations; Scientific
Practical Techniques; Perceptions of Science and Using
Mathematical Tools in Science.
• The optional units are: Using Statistics in Science;
Physiology of Human Body Systems; Genetics and Genetic
Engineering; Energy Changes; Sources and Applications;
Medical Physics Techniques; Chemical Laboratory
Techniques; Chemical Periodicity and its Applications.
• In combination, all units will give you a sound foundation
in all three areas of Science. The Diploma is equivalent
to two A2 Levels; the Subsidiary Diploma is equivalent to
one A2 Level.
• You will gain a wide knowledge and practical skill base
as well as the ability to apply those skills to situations
relevant to the world around us and in particular to work
once you leave school or choose to continue with your
education at college or university.

Entry requirements

For the Diploma you need a C in Core and Additional Science. For the Subsidiary Diploma you need a C in Core Science
