Performing Arts - Drama BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma at South Downs College
This course is a 'hands-on' practical and vocational qualification designed for students with a real enthusiasm for, and some ability in, acting.
You will explore different acting styles and learn how to perform for different target audiences and develop your physical and vocal technique.
The course units will focus on practical workshop projects including: devising plays, theatre for children, principles of acting, drama improvisation, contemporary theatre performance and performing to an audience.
You will take part in the rehearsal and performance of practical projects.
There is some written work involved and you will be asked to review and evaluate your work and prepare an actor's logbook.
You will need to have:
- Five GCSEs at grade C (including English Language)
- Successful completion of an audition
Experience is not necessary but enthusiasm and interest in the Performing Arts is essential.
Students usually progress onto higher education courses such as drama degrees at Chichester, Winchester and East 15 in London.
You may also progress to a career in Drama Teaching at primary and secondary school level.
