Beauty Therapy Level 3 at Warrington & Vale Royal College

Course description

This qualification is a progression for students who have completed Beauty Therapy at Level 2  and provides you with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills you need to enable you to perform manicures, pedicures, facials, eye treatments, waxing and make-up. In addition to participating in practical sessions, you will also be learning about anatomy and physiology and business studies. The Academy has four state-of-the-art salons that give you opportunity to practice your skills in an excellent realistic working environment. This course will allow you to learn in a very different way than you experienced at school, if you are interested in working with people, developing a useful set of skills that will allow you to train further and will provide opportunities for travel and a variety of different jobs, then find out more about studying beauty at The Academy.

Course content

You will study practice and theory in the following topic areas;

  • Health and safety in the salon
  • Client care and consultation
  • Body analysis
  • Skin analysis
  • Swedish massage therapy
  • Body electrical treatment
  • Facial electrical treatment
  • Mechanical massage
  • Anatomy and physiology for the face and body systems

Assessment

You will be assessed using a variety of methods including teacher assessment of practical skills and online examinations.

Financial information

You will be expected to purchase a uniform (approximately £45) so that you can present professional standards from the very start of your course. Further details will be available on application.

Future opportunities

Following successful completion of this qualification you will be able to progress directly into employment in spas, salons, cruise ships, airlines, hotels or self-employment. Alternatively you may like to progress to a qualification in Salon Management, a Higher Apprenticeship in Business Management or a Higher National Diploma is in Business.

The college is committed to ensuring that all students benefit from the opportunity to undertake work placement whilst at college and we will support you to obtain a placement in a relevant vocational setting, enabling you to gain a taste of a real life working environment.

Are trips and residentials organised during the course?

Various trips are organised throughout the academic year relating to the beauty industry. We also arrange for visiting guest speakers to come in and take about their specialist area or their world of work.

Are there any links with industry?

This is a college based course, your learning will be enhanced by engaging with employers. You will also have opportunity of participating in workshop sessions which are provided by industry professionals throughout the academic year. This ensures that you are able to experience the latest techniques and treatments first hand.

    • By Rail: Anyone travelling by train should disembark at Central Station in Warrington. Our Winwick Road Campus is around a 20 minute walk along the A49 (you will pass the Warrington Wolves RLFC stadium and the Tesco supermarket on your left).
