Art and Design BTEC Extended Diploma Level 3 at Burnley College

Course description

This course will help you to develop an understanding of the relationship between art theory and practice across a range of disciplines. In your Second year of study the course focuses on one specialist area, these include:

  • Graphics
  • Fine Art
  • 3D Sculpture
  • Textiles
  • Print
  • Painting

This course will help you to progress into a career as a professional artist or enable you to continue your studies at university level in areas including graphic design, textile innovation, fine art and interactive arts.

Entry requirements

Five GCSEs at grade C or above including English Language and Art (or an equivalent creative subject) at grade B or above OR a relevant Level 2 Diploma with a Merit grade and a GCSE grade B in English Language and Art PLUS a portfolio of work is to be presented at interview stage.

Assessment

Assessment is via coursework.

The extensive facilities accessed by our Creative Arts and Media students include Apple Mac and PC suites, art and design studios, a dance studio, a digital video suite including a chroma key studio, industry standard fashion design, textile printing and production facilities, multi-track digital sound recording studios and music and performance rehearsal spaces, including a 160-seater Performance Theatre.
