Mathematics with Further Maths A-Level at The West Bridgford School

Course description

Mathematics with Further Maths is a course studying for two A Levels and is for students who have achieved high marks in Year 10 and 11 (preferably A* standard). Students who take Mathematics with Further Maths must be interested in the subject and should enjoy mathematical challenges.


YEAR 12:

FP1 Pure Maths including complex numbers, matrices & trigonometry

D1 A discrete mathematics unit including algorithms, networks & linear programming

S2 A statistics unit extending S1 including the Poisson distribution and contingency tables

YEAR 13:

FP2 & FP3 Pure Maths including higher level calculus, hyperbolic functions & roots of complex numbers

M2/D2/FP4 A choice of second applied module or FP4 - a unit extending knowledge of matrices


Entry requirements

Grade A* in GCSE Mathematics, within the below:

4 A Level subjects + General Studies: 2 Grade A/A* + 2 Grade B in chosen subjects + 1 Grade C, including Grade B in Maths & English Language
