Applied Science A Level at De Aston School
The course investigates, via research and practical methods, how science is deployed in a variety of workplaces. Students can select the work places they would like to investigate but guidance is given in order to provide a balance of scientific content ensuring that they meet the assessment criteria.
Students also look at how scientific analysis takes place in vocational settings looking at a range of practical activities that organisations use in order to carry out their work. A final unit looks at the modern techniques involved in monitoring the human body.
5 GCSEs at grade C or above, including English Language. A vocational qualification will be considered as an equivalent to a GCSE qualification provided that at least a Level 2 Merit has been achieved on the examination element of that course.
Minimum of a Merit in BTEC Level 2 Science or minimum grade C in GCSE Additional Science and Core Science.
Minimum grade C in GCSE Mathematics.
