A-Levels - A Level Business at Wakefield College
A Level Business is usful for a range of careers, as it is a subject which covers a wide variety of topics, including marketing and finance. It also gives you the opportunity to start using skills within the classroom straight into the working world be it a part-time job or your own business.
What you will study
You'll develop a range of skills covering the following subject areas:
Marketing and people Including the following:
Meeting customer needs
Marketing mix and strategy
Entrepreneurs and leaders
Managing business activities including:
Business decisions and strategy including:
Business objectives and strategy
Influences on business decisions
Global business including:
Global markets and business expansion
Global industries and companies (multinational corporations).
How you will learn
The learning process will be varied, ranging from lecturers, through student-centred activities, individual and group work. You'll also be expected to conduct at least four hours of reading and independent study outside of lessons and complete regular homework tasks.
5 GCSEs at 9-4 or A* to C, including English and Maths at grade 5.
Assessment is by external examination. To achieve the full A Level in Business you will need to complete three externally assessed exams at the end of the second year. Progression is carefully monitored through combined student/teacher assessment, homework assignments and examination practice.
Tuition and certification are free if you are aged 16-18. Related additional costs may include materials, equipment, visits, and residentials, which are payable by all students.
Any student registered with an Awarding Body who has been given free entry and subsequently withdraws or is withdrawn by a tutor will incur the certification fee associated with the course. Any re-sit examination will incur a cost.
Different fees apply to international/overseas students and those studying this qualification as a standalone course.
