NHC offers a range of courses designed to equip students with the skills needed to work within tourism and aviation. On our courses, you’ll be encouraged to choose a specific career pathway that suits you. Typical career pathways within this sector include:

Cabin crew: travel the world, meet new people and see exotic places in a fast-paced career as a flight attendant. In its simplest form, this role involves looking after the passengers’ needs during flights, from serving food, explaining emergency safety procedures or calming nerves. You’ll be the friendly, go-to face of the airline. Working hours can be anti-social and entail long periods far from home but the cultural benefits are out of this world.

Holiday representative: in this role, you’ll make sure that everything runs smoothly for groups of clients who are on package holidays at holiday resorts abroad. As the public face of the tour operator, you’ll be responsible for all customer service, from coordinating airport pick-ups, welcome talks, group excursions and activities, to handling complaints or helping to resolve emergencies like lost luggage or health problems.

Hospitality and front of house: NHC courses could lead to a variety of roles working at hotels, cruise ships, holiday resorts, arenas, zoos or museums. You’ll ensure that all customers, tourists or guests have a pleasant experience. This could mean working on receptions, box offices or cash desks, overseeing ticketing and reservations, serving food and drinks, monitoring security or promoting and managing events. This is a varied role that could lead to a number of management opportunities.
