Health and Social Care A Level (Single) at St Michael's Church of England High School
If you wish to pursue a career in the field of healthcare, social care or early years (e.g., nursing, midwifery, social work or primary teaching) this course will address many aspects that are integral to such healthcare professions. The course covers a wide range of subjects and is good preparation for either further study at university or direct entry into employment.
For the Single Award, you will study topics, such as, Promoting Good Health and Quality Care, Communication in Care Settings, Child Development and Understanding Human Behaviour. For the Double Award you will study Early Years and Education, Health including Mental Health, Research Methods, Caring for Older People and Anatomy and Physiology.

Most students progress onto a range of health, social care or early years related degree courses. However, some students seek employment in health, residential care or early years’ settings (the NHS is the largest employer in Europe).
