Diploma (Higher): Hair and Beauty Studies at Ashby School
Students will be introduced to hair and beauty professions in detail. They will investigate cultural and diversity issues, look at anatomy and physiology, and explore the different consultation techniques used for each industry. Students may choose to study the make-up and hairstyling of an ancient civilisation such as the Romans or Egyptians. They may also carry out a risk assessment on a local hair and beauty business, or manage bookings and payments for a salon in their school. The course is studied as a triple option for nine lessons a week (instead of the usual three). It is run in conjunction with Stephenson College. The course is equivalent to five or six GCSEs at grades C or above on completion.
The course provides an excellent grounding for students wishing to take the Level 3 Diploma, study for A levels, or start work at 16.
