Photography BTEC Level 3 90 Credit Diploma at Lakes College West Cumbria

Course description

This course is studied one year, full time and will teach you to explore ideas and concepts as well as give you the opportunity to explore photographic media techniques and technology including digital image capture and editing. The units you will study on this course include Visual Communication, Contextual Studies, Darkroom practice, Studio Techniques and Location Techniques. Maths and English will be at the core of your study programme.

Entry requirements

L2 Art at Merit Grade or above or 5 GCSEs A*-C including English at C or above. All places are subject to interview and the applicant bringing a portfolio produced to an appropriate standard. Applicants subject to ind/prob period

Financial information

Free to all 16-18 and 19-23 year olds who do not already have a full level 3 qualification e.g. 4 or more AS Levels or 2 A Levels. Advanced Learning Loans are available for further education courses at Level 3, 4 & 5. They operate like higher education loans with deferred payments until you earn over approximately £21, 000 per year. (Information available at -learning-loans/overview) You have the option of taking out a loan or setting up a payment plan with the college that best suits your needs.

Future opportunities

If you are 18 and over upon successful completion of the 90 credit diploma at D*D you will have enough UCAS points to progress on to the HNC/HND at Lakes College. If you achieve a MM grade on the 90 credit and have benchmark attendance and punctuality you can top up to a full Level 3 Diploma in Art & Design, Graphics or Photography. Successful completion of the two year course at a minimum of MMM will earn the points needed to progress onto Lakes College HNC/D Fine Art or Photography, University or Employment.
