Countryside and the Environment Level 2 Diploma at South Gloucestershire and Stroud College*

Course description

This qualification will allow you to develop your interest in the environment and countryside sectors of the land-based industries. It is an opportunity to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal skills and attributes essential for successful performance for working in this sector.

Course content

  • Work-related experience in the land-based industries
  • Environmental and land-based business
  • Introduction to Environmental Studies
  • Conservation and improvement of British habitats
  • Undertaking ecological surveys and techniques
  • Introduction to urban habitat ecology

Entry requirements

English and Science at grade 4 (grade C), with Maths and one other subject at grade 3 (grade D).


Learners will discuss their own SMART targets with their personal tutor and. In order to review progress, learners will meet regularly with their personal tutor and feedback on assessments will be provided by teaching staff.

Future opportunities

On completion of the qualification, you will be able to apply for the Level 3 Subsidiary or 90 Credit Diploma in Countryside Management or to apply for a range of apprenticeships in the sector or go into employment.

Work in the areas of environmental conservation or ecology. Employment opportunities could include Countryside Management, Wildlife Conservation or Environment Protection.
