BTEC Level 1 Diploma for IT Users at Brooklands College

Course description

If you are interested in IT, this course will provide you with the underpinning skills and knowledge valued by employers in the IT industry.

Course content

Units include Word Processing, Internet and World Wide Web, Using Email, Drawing and Planning, Databases and Spreadsheets, Web design, Multimedia and others.

Students will be expected to go on work experience for 2 weeks during the year.

Entry requirements

GCSE passes at Grade D or below.


Your work will be internally assessed through a portfolio of evidence that you will produce throughout the course.

Financial information

During the year there will be trips and events which are an essential part of the course. Costs will be advised by your tutor.  Students are allocated a certain amount of free printing, after which a small fee will be incurred.

Future opportunities

Level 2 course or employment.

Examples of job roles that students on this level 1 course may go onto include IT Apprenticeship.
