Personal and Social Development : Level 1 at Gateway College

Course description

This course is designed to meet the individual needs of the students. It is a very practical based course with lots of fun and practical tasks to complete. The course will allow you to develop skills around rights and responsibilities, healthy living, community action, healthy eating, making the most of leisure time, managing social relationships and identity and cultural diversity.

Course content

As part of this course the students will take part in a variety of trips and visits into the City centre to visit a museum, use sports facilities, buy ingredients for cooking and taking part in eating out. Visits of guest speakers will also be organised, for example the police to discuss personal safety.

Entry requirements

PSD courses are matched to student’s main level of course programme.

Assessment

You will develop a portfolio of evidence completing different tasks using photographs and the completion of practical tasks which are vital to you passing the course. You will gain the Asdan PSD Level 1 Award/Certificate.

A transition meeting is held at Gateway College with a specialist Connexions Advisor to provide support and guidance about the next steps for each student.
