Spanish at Bellerive FCJ Catholic College

Course description

The course promotes progression through the AS and Advanced GCE and provides a suitable foundation for the study of Spanish or related courses in further and higher education. Universities are encouraging Science as well as Arts students to keep up their knowledge of modern languages. Languages can be useful in Banking, Broadcasting, Civil Service, Export Sales and Marketing, Insurance, International Public Relations, Retailing, Secretarial Work, Tourism.

During the course, students will develop their understanding of the spoken and written forms of Spanish from a variety of registers (radio recordings, television recordings, live satellite television, interpret newspapers/magazine, internet).

They will learn how to communicate clearly and imaginatively in Spanish through both the spoken and written word, using increasingly accurate, complex and varied language. They will increase their sensitivity to language and language learning. They will develop critical insights into, and contact with, the contemporary society, cultural background and heritage of countries where Spanish is spoken.

Entry requirements

5 A* - C grades or above (including at least a B in Spanish).
